According to exclusive coverage by Star News on the 15th, it has been confirmed that actor Im Si-wan (시완) has been cast in the recent Netflix original series ‘Squid Game’ Season 2 (오징어 게임).
Last year in June, director Hwang Dong-hyuk revealed through Netflix Korea’s official social media that Lee Jung-jae and Lee Byung-hun would be appearing in ‘Squid Game’ Season 2, with a possibility of Gong Yoo joining the cast. Im Si-wan will be starring alongside Lee Jung-jae and Lee Byung-hun as the main character in ‘Squid Game’ Season 2, unfolding a new story.
The total production budget for ‘Squid Game’ Season 2 is reported to be over 100 billion Korean won. After finalizing the casting, the first filming is scheduled to begin this summer, with a target release date in 2024.

Regarding this matter, Netflix stated to Star News, “We cannot provide any confirmation regarding ‘Squid Game’ Season 2 and casting. We cannot say anything at this time.”
‘Squid Game’ is a Netflix series directed and written by Hwang Dong-hyuk, depicting the participants risking their lives in extreme games to become the final winner of a mysterious survival game with a prize of 456 billion won.
In the first season, released in September 2021, actors such as Lee Jung-jae, Park Hae-soo, Oh Young-soo, Wi Ha-jun, Jung Ho-yeon, Heo Sung-tae, Kim Joo-ryoung, Gong Yoo, and Lee Byung-hun appeared. Within just a month, it gained over 110 million households worldwide, making ‘Squid Game’ the most-watched Netflix original series.
Im Si-wan previously appeared in the Netflix film ‘One Line Dropped’ released in February, and he is also anticipating the release of the movie ‘1947 Boston’ in September.
