BTS member Jin has showcased his remarkable popularity by claiming the top spot as the most influential celebrity on Instagram in Korea.
On June 21, Jin secured the first position in the ranking of “Korean Celebrity Instagram with the Highest Average Engagement Rate,” as announced by influencer marketing platform StarNgage. Jin’s Instagram recorded an overwhelming engagement rate of 26.62%. This achievement is remarkable considering his active military service since December last year, proving his unrivaled popularity and significant influence.
StarNgage is a market research company with clients such as Coca-Cola, Samsung, PayPal, and TikTok. The term “organic engagement” refers to the participation of real people rather than bots. It accurately reflects the actual level of involvement while filtering out fake engagements.
Furthermore, Jin maintained his position at the 9th spot in the ranking of “Most Influential Music Influencers in the United States” announced by HypeAuditor, another influencer marketing platform. Among male artists in Asia, Jin ranked first and secured the second position worldwide, trailing only behind Justin Bieber.
Moreover, in the first half of 2023, Jin rose to become the second most influential music influencer globally and the top-ranked Asian male influencer. The top five male artists worldwide include Justin Bieber at first place, followed by Jin from BTS at second, Zayn Malik, a former member of One Direction, at third, Shawn Mendes at fourth, and Harry Styles, also a former One Direction member, at fifth.
Jin’s dominance continued as he secured the top position as the Asian male for 202 days in the ranking of “Top 1000 Most Influential Influencers on Instagram in the United States.” This achievement is noteworthy as he had limited Instagram uploads during his military service.
Jin also displayed his “Social King” persona by ascending to the title of the “K-pop Idol with the Most Likes on Instagram” in the first quarter of 2023.
Furthermore, Jin claimed the second position in the category of “Artists Most Mentioned Worldwide in 2022” and ranked first among solo artists, according to NetBase Quid, a consumer market information platform in the United States that analyzes the impact of consumer-driven decision-making for companies such as Coca-Cola, Microsoft, and Walmart.
Last year, Jin received accolades as the most mentioned male artist globally at the Grammy Awards and topped the list as the most mentioned individual at the Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs). He also achieved the first position in February, March, and July of the previous year, making a total of four number ones and solidifying his status as a top global star.
Jin’s first solo single, “The Astronaut,” released on October 28 last year, became the first certified million-seller solo single by the Korea Music Content Association (KMCA). In Japan, it obtained the Golden Certification, making Jin the first Korean solo artist to achieve this in 2022.
“The Astronaut” made its debut on the Billboard Hot 100 at 51, marking Jin’s highest debut as a K-pop artist. Additionally, it reached the impressive fourth position on the Billboard Japan Hot 100, making it the highest-ranking Korean-language solo song in the past ten years. On the year-end “Top Single Sales” chart by Billboard Japan, the song reached an outstanding 49th position within a month of its release. It received tremendous love from listeners worldwide, dominating various Billboard charts in different countries.
Continuing his streak, “The Astronaut” claimed the top spot on the “Match FM Conteo Match top30” chart hosted by Mexican radio channel Match FM on June 17 (local time). This achievement marks the highest record by a BTS member, with Ariana Grande at second place and Ed Sheeran at third.
