In the morning of May 30th, as of 9 a.m., all of Lee Seunggi’s social media posts disappeared. Even his profile picture was changed to the default image. Chaos ensued, and speculations arose about a change in his state of mind.
However, it was all planned. A representative from Lee Seung-gi’s agency, Humanmade, explained in a conversation with MyDaily that the deletion of the social media posts was done to “renew and update” them and that there was no hacking or ulterior motive involved.
Despite facing difficulties in recent years, Lee Seung-gi has continued to forge ahead. He revealed that he had not received proper financial settlements for his music earnings from his previous agency, Hook Entertainment, spanning 18 years. Currently, he is in a dispute over the unpaid settlement. In the process, Lee Seung-gi pledged to donate approximately 5 billion KRW (around $4.5 million) to society under the pretext of unpaid funds from Hook Entertainment and is actively fulfilling that promise.
After getting married to Lee Da-in, he faced various controversies related to premarital pregnancy rumors and issues with his father-in-law. Nevertheless, amidst their personal struggles, Lee Seung-gi and Lee Da-in donated 110 million KRW (around $100,000) to the Korean Red Cross. Of this amount, 100 million KRW (around $90,000) was directed towards supporting parents involved in child-rearing, while 1 million KRW (around $900) was contributed to aid the victims of the Gangneung forest fire.
More recently, there was a buzz surrounding their “363-square-meter newlywed home.” The TVN variety show, “Free Doctor,” described Lee Seung-gi and Lee Da-in’s new home as a two-story detached house with a spacious yard that can accommodate 12 cars at once.
However, this turned out to be false. Lee Seung-gi’s side clarified that it was not their newlywed home and expressed regret, stating that the broadcaster had released the information without verifying the facts.
On the 28th, the production team of “Free Doctor” issued an official statement, apologizing for the situation that led to misinterpretation, saying, “The location featured in the preview video does belong to Lee Seung-gi, but we apologize for creating a misunderstanding that it was their newlywed home.”
Despite facing consecutive unexpected controversies, Lee Seung-gi remains steadfast, quietly pursuing his dreams.
On the 29th, during the TV Chosun and Discovery Channel Korea’s show, “Ramyeon Brothers,” Lee Seung-gi revealed the proposal he made to Lee Da-in, saying, “I had many conversations with my real wife about what kind of life we should live after marriage. We both have aspirations to do many good things and live a happy life, right?”
He further confessed, “My friend who I’m marrying is such a great person. Fortunately, our intentions and values align. I think we can do great things and live happily.”
Previously, Lee Seung-gi had already conveyed his determination to pay off debts with his wife, Lee Da-in, despite the various rumors and negative comments. He stated, “I made a promise to my wife, Lee Da-in, that we will repay our debts together, and we will keep that promise regardless of the malicious comments.”
Lee Seung-gi’s sincerity continues to move the hearts of the public.
