Renowned trot singer Lim Youngwoong (임영웅) has announced his aspirations to broaden his musical spectrum and venture into the international music scene. During his appearance on KBS News 9 on the afternoon of June 2nd, Lim expressed his desire to pursue dreams of challenges. He stated, “Starting this year, I want to broaden my musical spectrum to appeal to international audiences and make them enjoy my music.”
When asked about his plans to explore genres such as pop and hip-hop, Lim replied, “I can incorporate those vibes and experiment with them as well.”
Lim Young-woong explained that he aims to engage with a wider range of generations and international fans, hoping for more opportunities to connect with them. Last year, he released a double single titled ‘Polaroid,’ in which he experimented with a sophisticated rock and folk genre instead of his usual trot style.
Currently, Lim Youngwoong is actively participating in his first solo variety show, KBS’s ‘My Little Hero,’ where he reveals his relatable and candid daily life. Regarding his return to variety shows after a long hiatus, Lim explained, “I decided to appear on a broadcast after hearing a fan’s story about how their mother eagerly awaited my appearance but passed away.”
On the 3rd, Lim Young-woong will premiere his new song ‘Sand Grains’ on ‘My Little Hero.’ He introduced the song as one he personally participated in writing and composing, drawing inspiration from poet Na Tae-joo’s poetry collection and his recent experiences in the United States.
